It all began when Owen Ayers saw the need for bagged fertilizer in Butler county. He started the business in his own front yard, and it quickly grew into a store-front location. His daughter, Peggy Ayers Drake grew up assisting customers at Ayers Seed & Fertilizer, and a few years after marrying her husband Howard "Droopy" Drake they purchased the store from her father in 1978 and began Drake's Farm Service. After many years of growing the business, Peggy and Droopy's son Denny stepped in and took over in 1997.

Drake's Farm Service outgrew it's first location and in 2001 was rebuilt into our current retail store location.

It was a major risk for the Drake Family to take on, and without support from loyal customers it would not have been possible.

Since taking over, Denny has expanded Drake's into three locations including our retail store, seed warehouse, and fertilizer facility.
